The occasion was a huge “Open House” event to celebrate Amptec’s twentieth anniversary. Some 600 visitors attended over three days during which they were treated a factory tour and the opportunity to hear bands playing on stage, and then the opportunity to attend several different workshops during the day. During the evening, guests were rewarded with a party and a concert. At the heart of all these proceedings was an Innovason Eclipse digital console which mixed each session and recorded direct to hard disk using the console’s MARS facility. Once the session was over, the engineer flipped over to the MARS recording using the Virtual Soundcheck function which enabled him to send out the playback of the session to all of the workshops via the EtherSound network and then out to Optocore at the push of a button.

Innovason’s Matthieu Le Failler who managed the network, explained, “Amptec had installed an Optocore network which served all of the Workshop rooms. The Eclipse network was over EtherSound, so I supplied a 64-channel DioMADI interface from Innovason which simply converts EtherSound to MADI and enabled me to send out everything over the Optocore network. The whole network was clocked by the Eclipse, and frankly, it couldn’t have been easier. People were amazed by how quick and simple it was to set up what appeared to be quite a complex network, and even more amazed that we could get two competing network protocols to work together so transparently. For me it was an excellent demonstration of the huge potential of Eclipse, and the strength and flexibility of EtherSound.”

Amptec’s team leader internal sales, David Liebens, agreed. “For Amptec’s clients, this was the first event where they were able to see the Eclipse in action making full use of the EtherSound network, and better still, linking to our own Optocore network that fed the workshops via MADI. Matthieu Le Failler did an excellent job of setting everything up. It worked very well indeed and took him no time at all. In fact, the whole event was a success for us. We had a lot of visitors who showed a great deal of interest and we got a lot of extremely positive reactions.”
